Decided to pop by the wet market to pick up a few ingredients for a party and you cannot quite go wrong with Tekka Market in Little India. Before our little shopping expedition, we sat down for breakfast, and greedy us ordered various items from 3 different stalls.
So firstly we had some pretty nice Dosai from Sri Tiffin Stall #01-228. Now I am not sure which is the best stall around the market but this was pretty respectable. The edges were crisp, the curry and the potato filling was tasty. I’ll give it a 3.5 / 5.
We walked by and were pretty curious about the Bhatura, this deep friend puffed up pancake of sorts, from SJ Tandoori at stall #01-218. It was tasty but was not as crisp as we thought it would be. My personal rating would be a 3 / 5.
I had previously been introduced to Vadais, a deep fried ball of various starches with prawns, from Skylab Cooked Foods at stall #01-228 and my friend pretty much gulped it down. I’m not a personal fan per se, but of the ones of tried before, this Vadai is 4 / 5 for me. We also ordered some Putu Mayam which is basically a noodle made of flour and coconut milk, paired with some date sugar, it was disappointing though.
I’d definitely be back again, and hopefully armed with more recommendations from friends who live in the area, on what to try.
